Super Rare 1919-1924 Kaywoodie Pup - Arched Kaywoodie logo with Ampersand
1919-1924 Kaywoodie Pup. 1st Generation Arched Kaywoodie Stamp with inbore tube. The first generations were stamped Kaywoodie in an arch over the KB&B clover leaf. This is the version of stamping when Kaywoodie first became a brand and features the “&” symbol in KB&B, which was later dropped to just KBB. This is prior to their now famous Drinkless firmest (or stinger). Has “PUP” marked on the right side. This is a smaller pipe as the name infers. Measuring 4 3/16” in length with a small bowl measuring 11/16” wide and 1 3/16” deep. This pipe features an “inbore-tube”, much like Dunhill’s Inner-Tube, with a standard push tennon mount. The bit is thin with the older oval, barrel shaped button. No tooth marks, the stem fits perfectly in the shank, stampings are clear and easy to read. There is some wear on the inner edge of the bowl top. When I got this, the white clover had fallen out. This has now been filled.
It is very rare to find a pipe with these specific Kaywoodie markings, even more rare is the “Pup” model. This will likely be a once in a lifetime find for the serious Kaywoodie collector.
