Rare, Pre-Kaywoodie, KBB Bakelite Pipe
Extremely rare, pre-Kaywoodie, Kaufmann Bros. and Bondy (KBB) Pipe. Removable Briar Bowl, Bakelite Stem and a shank, with unknown (probably Bakelite) black base. This is a very early pipe, likely 1909-1915, but could be as new as 1920 as there were a few KBB pipes being made at the same time that the Kaywoodie line was introduced. I’ve spoken to several Kaywoodie experts and they have agreed that this is very early, though specific dates are nearly impossible to nail down on KBB pipes of this age.
This 100 year old pipe is in impeccable condition for its age. There are a couple of old chips on the underside of the briar bowl, and some light scratches on the Bakelite. I polished and waxed the entire pipe, scrubbed it with 99% isopropyl alcohol and sweetened the bowl and stem.
This old pipe is very smokable and is a very nice piece to add to your collection.
Sold as is. I’ve done my best to accurately represent and research this pipe, though information is scarce.
